Painful Gains at The FARM
Chronic pain tried to steal my freedom, my life, and my family seven years ago. It was so severe I was essentially bedridden, on high doses of narcotics, and had no hope for any future at all. I lost my job and ended up on disability. By the grace of God, I stumbled into the work of Dr. John Sarno and Mindbody Medicine 3 years ago. After countless hours of study and personal work, I have taken back control of my life. I am back at work and doing any activities that I desire. This includes hiking, jogging, weight lifting, swimming, and mountain biking.
Chronic Pain Coaching
Pain is universal to everyone, but we have been led to believe that it must have a structural problem, such as degenerative disc disease.
The truth about chronic pain is that it lies in the brain and its perception of our external and internal environments. Its job is to protect us, and with chronic pain, it’s doing its job in overdrive. If this goes unregulated for long periods, numerous health problems can occur, and chronic pain is just one of them.
I have the desire to help people get out of pain and end the opioid crisis that has wreaked havoc across the country. I believe it’s a solvable problem, and the solution to the problem lies within ourselves.

The Plan
Education “The Neuroscience”
In order to break out of pain, you must understand the neurological system and its role in producing chronic pain. We are complex beings, one organism, mind, and body. Coming to “awareness” of how our thoughts, emotions(anger, anxiety, fear, etc.), stress, past significant life events, and personality traits affect this system is the key to opening the door to healing. Sometimes coming to awareness is all people need to heal. It’s also here where you will learn that you are not broken; your body is perfectly fine to move and do what it wants.
Action Steps/Tool Box
You cannot get out of pain unless you decide to change your internal and external environment. It’s changing how you think about your pain and current circumstances. How you are currently living your life. Using techniques such as expressive writing, visualization, graded exposure, somatic tracking, active meditation, and deep breathing will help turn down the overdrive your system is experiencing. We will integrate these tools into your daily life. You will gradually no longer fear your pain; it will significantly decrease or fade away altogether.
Maintenance/Living Life On Your terms
As you progress through the above steps of the plan, you will gain confidence and learn to live life on your terms. Pain has taken so much from you, but it no longer has to steal your joy. Pain will more than likely come back at times, but when you are able to correlate what’s happening in your life to the symptoms/pain, you will be able to shut them down quicker.
